I've been interested in fitness since 2012. My focus has always been on incorporating meditation for the mind and workouts for the body—what I call my personal mantra: Mind : Muscle.
I became a gym member on 1st May 2022 and started working out regularly. While my training routine included both strength training and cardio, I wasn’t very consistent with cardio. I used to do it on random days, not as part of a structured plan. However, I maintained a solid gym schedule, averaging 22 to 25 days a month.
Though my overall fitness improved, my cholesterol levels remained a bit of a concern. The test results in October 2024 made me rethink my approach, especially towards cardio.
So, I started researching online, reading articles based on scientific studies. That’s when I understood the fundamental difference between strength training and cardio—each offering distinct benefits.
Cardio helps improve heart health and endurance, and is closely linked to longevity. On the other hand, strength training enhances muscle mass and contributes to a better quality of life.
Since then, I’ve started incorporating cardio after my strength training sessions. I’ll be sharing my progress, observations, and learnings along the way—hoping to inspire fellow fitness enthusiasts and like-minded individuals.
